John 3: 16

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

The Message

16 This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.

Everlasting life is not just a quantity but a quality. Jesus said that he had come so that we could have and enjoy life in all of its fullness – superabundant, excessive, overflowing, surplus, over and above, more than enough, profuse, extraordinary, and more than sufficient life.

Everlasting life doesn’t begin when you die – it begins the moment you believe that Jesus is Lord and that he died and rose again, and that you died and rose again with him.

Romans 10: 8 – 10

8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (healed, delivered, prospered). 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Jesus said that the words that we speak originate in our hearts and so when we believe that Jesus is Lord and that he is risen from the dead the words that we speak will reflect that. Our words will proclaim that Jesus is our Saviour, that Jesus is our healer, that Jesus is our deliverer, and that Jesus is our provider. Our words will testify that Jesus is everything that we need him to be whenever and wherever we need him to be.
