PART FOUR
A DECISIVE DEDICATION
1 Samuel 22: 1 – 2
1 David therefore departed from there and escaped to the cave of
Adullam. So when his brothers and all his father's house heard it, they
went down there to him. 2And everyone who was in distress, everyone who
was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him. So he
became captain over them. And there were about four hundred men with
him.
What attracted these people to David? The anointing!
What was so special about the anointing upon David? He was a
worshipper! Worshippers attract the anointing and the anointing
attracts others because those who are anointed worshippers have a
supernatural confidence in God’s ability to protect and to provide!
The anointing attracts those who are in DISTRESS – experiencing
anxiety, mental suffering, anguish, those who are in DEBT – with an
obligation to repay something to someone else, and those who are
DISCONTENTED – restlessly unhappy, dissatisfied.
These guys represent REAL PEOPLE who live REAL LIVES in the REAL WORLD
and in the reality of REAL PROBLEMS. But they also represent those who
have an awareness that the only REAL ANSWER to REAL PROBLEMS that we
experience in the REAL WORLD is the ANOINTING – God’s supernatural
ability to OVERCOME!
Remember – all human beings see things in 3D – three dimensions –
width, depth, and length. But God has another dimension that he wants
to bring us into – where he can reveal his supernatural ability to
overcome in our 3D world.
Ephesians 3: 14 – 21
14For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, 15from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be
strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17that
Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted
and grounded in love, 18may be able to comprehend with all the saints
what is the width and length and depth and height-- 19to know the love
of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the
fullness of God. 20Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly
above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in
us, 21to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations,
forever and ever. Amen.
When you start getting revelation of not only where he has taken you
from, but also where he has taken you to – you will begin to experience
the exceedingly abundantly above of God – above the all that you
yourself are capable of in your own strength or ability!
John 4: 23 – 24
23But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will
worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such
to worship Him. 24God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship
in spirit and truth.
Jesus found a woman – who was a social reject and dysfunctionality
personified – who could receive the revelation of true worship and run
with it! This lady had five failed marriages behind her – that was her
history – but now she had the revelation of worship in spirit and
truth, and so her destiny would never have another failure in the
marriage stakes! What had once been her shame became her testimony.
Personally, I have failed many times in many areas – some folks will
hear that and use it as ammunition against me – but I don’t care
because winners are not those who never fail, but those who never quit!
The corporate meeting of the church is where worshippers gather
together to worship in spirit and truth – giving expression to our
thanksgiving and praise of our Father God and laying down our lives and
welcoming his word! The corporate meetings of the church are not
primarily a place to bring sinners – although if a non-believer comes
in then he should have an encounter with the living God and at least
experience the conviction that produces! We – as believers – should
leave these meetings filled-up and fired-up and ready to evangelise!
That is what happened with this Samaritan woman – she went straight
from a worship encounter to effective evangelism!
A few years ago the Lord helped me to see that worshippers were not
merely those who raised their hands with a far away look on their faces
– but those who also received his word and did it!
Romans 12: 1 – 2 (Amplified)
1I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of
[all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies
[presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy
(devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your
reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship. 2Do
not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted
to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by
the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new
attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and
acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and
acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
Make a decisive dedication! Spiritual worship – worship in spirit and
truth begins with a decision! "I will worship the Lord my God, and
serve him alone!"
1 Corinthians 6: 17
17But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
The purpose of being joined to the Lord – worshippers in spirit and
truth – is to receive the seed of truth that produces the fruit of
righteousness in our lives and a testimony that becomes effective in
bringing others into a personal encounter with our 4D God! (John 4: 42)
Jesus used this encounter with the Samaritan woman to teach his
disciples a kingdom principle in relation to evangelism. He said:

35Do you not say, "There are still four months and then comes the
harvest'? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the
fields, for they are already white for harvest!
You have to LIFT UP your eyes in order to see that the harvest is ripe!
If you just look at the way things are from a natural perspective you
will be overwhelmed! This woman was a serial adulteress with a
scattered soul but Jesus saw the potential that was in her to be a new
creation living a brand new 4D life. Jesus went where his disciples
would never have gone and reaped a harvest where all everyone else
could see was a worthless whore! The exceedingly abundantly above all
begins with how you see things – either 3D or 4D - whore or harvest!
2 Corinthians 3: 6
6He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the
letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives
life.
As long as the word of God is merely letters on a page – 2D – then you
as a 3D being can take these words and manipulate them any way you like
to say just about whatever you want! But these words were never
intended to be just letters on a page! They are the living word of the
living God and they only become effective as the Holy Spirit makes them
alive in us – causing us to enter the fourth dimension of life in the
Spirit – the God-kind of life!
When God’s word becomes alive in us we can no longer manipulate it in
order to live our 3D lives any way we choose, or to justify our sinful
actions – but his word changes us and delivers us out from the old 3D
existence and releases us into the 4D life of the overcomer!
2 Timothy 3: 1 – 5
1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:
2For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters,
proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal,
despisers of good, 4traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure
rather than lovers of God, 5having a form of godliness but denying its
power. And from such people turn away!
The problem today is that there is often a 3D form without 4D power –
and there is nothing worse! That was the Pharisees religion – it was
all about outward appearance. There is no point in pretending something
is working when it is not!
For example, if "You shall not commit adultery" is simply words on a
page then how does that work in a world full of beautiful women – or
however women refer to fanciable men – if your natural inclination is
towards sin?
In our 3D world we have said it is okay to look as long as we don’t
touch. But Jesus entered our 3D world and blew a hole in that one when
he said that looking at someone in a lustful way was just like
committing the act of adultery! Eve’s sin started out with seeing and
looking and desiring and ended in disaster and death!
There is now the fascination with 2D images that has become a modern
plague in our society – pornography! You might think that there is no
harm in looking at these images but the truth is that the addiction to
pornography is actually stronger than the addiction to cocaine!
It is no longer necessary to visit Soho or Amsterdam or ask for
something from under the counter or endure the embarrassment of taking
something from the top shelf in order to access what is potentially
more devastating than an addiction to any ‘class A’ drug. You just need
a PC with an internet connection, or a TV and satellite dish, or even
just a plain old TV a lot of the time! You are confronted with full
frontal nudity on the covers of so-called ‘lad’s mags’ at the counter
of at least one of the petrol stations in Stornoway, and virtually all
women’s magazines now have at least one reference to SEX emblazoned on
the front cover!
REAL LIFE in the 3D world has become increasingly difficult and
dangerous. 47% of Christians said that pornography was a real problem
in their homes!
Hebrews 8: 10
10For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel
after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their mind and
write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be
My people.
The word of God has to come off the page and find a place in our
hearts. The Holy Spirit takes the word and makes it alive in us so that
we are delivered from this world and its darkness! Only the power of
the Holy Spirit can enable us to be IN and not OF!
Only the power of the Holy Spirit bringing the word of God alive can
keep us in God’s plan – His basic building block of society – of one
man and one woman for life producing a family that flows in God’s
order! Our society is being broken down because a powerless 3D religion
has no impact upon a world that, as one government minister said
recently,is producing a generation of feral teenagers who have no sense
of right or wrong and virtually no positive parental input.
There are some Christian folks who now use the dead letter to try and
justify almost any behaviour. As long as the word of God remains dead
letter it will bring you into bondage – but when the Holy Spirit brings
it alive in you it will deliver you!
God’s perfect will is one man and woman for life – and so there has to
be a 4D answer to adultery that is beyond "you can look but don’t
touch!" The covenant relationship that we have with God is the
foundation upon which all other covenant relationships – including
marriage – are built. God pours his love into our hearts by his Spirit
so that we can love our marriage partners in such a way that there is
no room for even looking at someone else inappropriately. This is love
as a decision rather than merely as an emotion.
Job 31: 1
1 I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a girl.
Proverbs 5: 15, 18 – 20
15Drink water from your own cistern, and running water from your own well….
18Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice with the wife of your youth.
19As a loving deer and a graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy you at all times;
and always be enraptured with her love. 20For why should you, my son,
be enraptured by an immoral woman, and be embraced in the arms of a
seductress?
God isn’t anti-sex – he invented it! But when man fell sex fell –
and so the only way to restore sex to God’s original design is to get
revelation of the height of God’s love and bring it into the fourth
dimension of spirit. Sex outside of marriage will result in ungodly
soul ties, but the covenant of marriage joins two people at a higher
level, because they commit to one another and bind themselves to each
other with covenant vows as well as physically.
