First Things First (Part 7)

First things first, because the main thing is keeping the main thing the main thing.

Recognising, respecting, and submitting to God’s order is essential if we want to experience and enjoy the life in all of its fullness that he has planned for us.

When something is out of order it is broken. The enemy of our souls wants to create disorder or to exploit disorder that already exists in our lives, to exploit places of brokenness.

1 Timothy 4: 1

1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.

Remember, the Holy Spirit is the main thing. You can do church without the Holy Spirit, but you can’t be the church without the Holy Spirit.

I stated previously that I wanted to give you the cure before I highlighted the diseases, so that if we recognised that we were being negatively affected by any of the deceiving spirits that come to manipulate any places of brokenness that we may still have in our lives we would know that there is a way back home. Our Father wants everyone to come home, to where he has promised to heal all of our diseases.

If we are born again the demonic only has access to our soul and only if we allow it. Jesus promised us rest – ease – for our souls, when we come to him and learn from him. Continue reading 'New Wine for New Wineskins November 2018'»

Lights – Camera – Action

I’ve had people say to me that the church is full of hypocrites. I usually tell them that they are wrong and that the church isn’t full of hypocrites because there is still room for plenty more….

When Good News Is Bad News

God always gives us a choice.  We can choose life and prosperity and blessing or we can choose death and destruction and the curse.  The right choice will lead us forward into the fulfilment of his plans for our lives and the wrong choice will divert us off into a cycle of wandering aimlessly in a wilderness….

A DNA Test (Part 2)

Jesus gave the revelation of true worship to a lady who was regarded as the lowest of the low among a people who represented what was considered to be a hybrid mongrel race – people who who were rejected out of hand by the Jews as unworthy of any contact and were definitely judged to be totally unusable in the kingdom of God. And yet the Jews and the Samaritans actually shared a common heritage….

I Do Who I Am

It is too easy to get caught up in the mindset of “I am what I do” but that faulty thinking can seriously limit our experience of the life we were created to live….

First Things First (Part 6)

First things first – because the main thing is keeping the main thing the main thing.

God is a God of order, and so we must always recognise, respect, and submit to his order if we are going to experience and enjoy the fullness of life that he has planned for us.

We have previously emphasised the need to ensure that Jesus’ vision statement recorded in Matthew 16: 18 is also our vision statement, and that his mission statement (which reveals how he plans to achieve his mission statement) as recorded in Luke 4: 18 – 19 corresponds with our mission statement.

Jesus is building his church and it is not a weak and defeated and miserable church – it is a victorious, prevailing, and overcoming church. It is also a prophetic church with a prophetic message, which will always and inevitably attract opposition.

As I said last time, the reality of opposition necessitates that we maintain a heightened awareness of the subtle ways in which the enemy seeks to prevent that message from being heard by those to whom it is designed to minister to and to liberate.

I said that we were going to be looking specifically at three of many demonic spirits that attack the church in order to limit its effectiveness, and so last time we began looking at the jezebel spirit.

For the sake of continuity I am going to begin with the couple of paragraphs that we ended with last time.

Jezebel always wants to put you and I on the throne so that it can negatively manipulate us and influence us as we manoeuvre our lives and our words and our actions in ways that protect our position to our own advantage, which will inevitably involve sacrificing and exploiting and damaging others.

The good news is that we have been given a strategy to safeguard against this tendency toward self-advancement and that keeps us in alignment with God’s throne and his perfect will for our lives.

Where Are You? (Part 8)

Moses spent 40 years on the back side of the desert because he confused calling with commission.  As a result of this confusion his first attempt at deliverance ministry was a flop because even though one man got temporarily delivered Moses stirred up a hornet’s nest of devils that put him on the run….
