It Is Our Time (Part 1)

It is our time. Please allow me to qualify that statement. It is always time because we live in time. In the beginning God created time and one day he will end time which will be swallowed up in eternity. That is why although we occupy time we should always live from the perspective of eternity.

And so we pray that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven – that the eternal would invade the temporal, that heaven would touch the earth, and that what is eternally established in heaven would be experienced on the earth.

It is our time because it is our generation and our opportunity to reach the people of our generation with the good news of salvation, healing, and deliverance.

Psalm 119: 160

160 The entirety of Your word is truth, and every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.

1 Peter 1: 25

25 ….the word of the Lord endures forever. Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.

God’s will is his word and his word is his will – his word is the expression of his thoughts and determines his ways.

John 1: 1 – 5

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend [overcome] it.

Luke 6: 47 – 48

47 Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.

If we are still running around looking for a word it may just be because we haven’t dug down to the word.

Perspective Is Everything

Part Five

The prophetic declaration we have been given as New Wine Church for the year 5782-2022 is  “The Year of Reconciliation”.

2 Corinthians 5: 17 – 21

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

This fits perfectly with the current series as we have been saying that it is time for ministry, that it is time to be a continuation of Jesus’ ministry.  Jesus came to reconcile the world to God and he has passed on the ministry and the message of reconciliation to us.

Ephesians 4: 11 – 12

11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying [building up] of the body of Christ

As previously stated throughout this series there are many ways that we can be equipped for ministry, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that we are fully prepared for ministry – particularly a ministry that is a continuation of Jesus’ ministry. The truth is that is time for us to be a continuation of Jesus’ ministry, and perspective is everything.

The first thing that we should note is that ministry is work.

Revelation 3: 2 – 3

2 Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your works unfinished in the sight of my God. 3 Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.

Jesus, in addressing this church in Sardis, refers to unfinished works.

John 4: 34

34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work….”

John 5: 36

36 But I have a greater witness than John’s; for the works which the Father has given Me to finish – the very works that I do – bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me.

John 17: 4

4 I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.

John 19: 30

30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

Jesus obviously placed the utmost importance on finishing the work he had been sent by his Father to accomplish. It seems that he also viewed the finishing of the work he committed to us to be of similar importance.

John 20: 21

21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”
